Description	:	Jacob was a son of John Read (Reed) (b: 1774 d: 1850) and Abigail (Abbey) Hoffman (b: 1760 d: 1844) of Washington Township, Post office --Schooleys Mountain, Morris Cty. Jacob enlisted in the United States Army on May 30, 1812 and served for a term of 5 years. He was discharged on May 30, 1817.
