Died at his home in Thorncreek township, Whitley county, Ind., March 10th 1898, aged 77 years, 2 months and 2 days. He was married to Mary Humbarger in 1838, to whose union eight children were born, seven of whom survive him, three sons and four daughters. They moved to Whitley county, Indiana in 1868, where they ever since have made their home. He united with the Christian church in 1889, and so lived that when the summons came to join the innumerable caravan that moves to that mysterious realm, where each shall take his chamber in the silent halls of death, he went not like the quarry slave at night scourged to his dungeon, but sustained and soothed by an unfaltering trust, approached his grave like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.
