KAISER b: 17 SEP 1897 in Sac, Iowa, USA Married: 12 SEP 1916 in Wall Lake, Sac, Iowa, USA ----------------------- Funeral services for Jacob Tjaden, 95, long-time resident of Wall Lake, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Wheatland Presbyterian Church near Breda, with the Prev. Perkins Patton officiating. Mr. Tjaden passed away on Monday, Sept. 26, 1988, at the Eventide Nursing Home in Denison following a prolonged illness. Music for the service was congregational singing, with Mrs. Harry Hayunga as organist. Mrs. Harlan Flink and Mrs. Leroy Bieret were in charge of the floral arrangements. Honorary attendants were Harry Hayunga, Ben Rosener, Ezra Kies, Abel Peters, Gerd H. Gerdes, Ben von Glan, John Huisenga and Ronald Meyer. Active casket attendants were Darwyn Rodman, Leonard Peters, William Geake, Melvin Sommer, Paul Bieret and Leroy Bieret. Interment was made in the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home of Wall Lake. Jacob Tjaden was born May 25, 1893, at Remsen, Iowa, the son of Johannes and Ockje (Schlorholtz) Tjaden. At the age of two he came to live with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Schlorholtz, and a cousin Augusta Rosingh, on a farm near Breda. He attended the Wheatland country school. On September 12, 1916, he was united in marriage to Lillian C. Kaiser at the German Reformed Church at rural Wall Lake. They farmed in the Breda and Wall Lake areas for many years, retiring in 1967 and moving to Wall Lake. He lived here for 21 years, until his illness forced him to move to a nursing home. He is survived by two sons, Merlin Tjaden and his wife Lorna of Lake View and Robert Tjaden and his wife Kay of Wall Lake, and one daughter, Erma Jean Crampton of Denison. Also seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 20 step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; plus nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, on August 6, 1971; three brothers: John, Peter and Eilert; three sisters: Auke, Tieska and Oggie; one son, Johnny; one grandson, Ricky Tjaden; a great-granddaughter, Tracy Crampton; and a step-grandson, James Hazen.
