Description	:	Dr. Charles Stimson received a telegraph from Los Angeles California last night with the sad intelligence that J.V. Burner, who had been there for some time past for health reasons, died there yesterday. No particulars are known. Mr. & Mrs. Burner, and their daughter, Miss Daisy, have been in Los Angeles for several months. Mr. & Mrs. Burner, and their daughter, Miss Daisy, have been in Los Angeles for several months. At times it seemed as though Mr. Burner's condition had improved, and at other times it was worse then ever. The deceased was aged about 63 years, and was one of Newark's most enterprising citizens. He was born & raised in Franklin township, four miles south of Newark, and was a son of the late Henry Burner. When quite young he engaged in the furniture business on the South side of the Square with Mr. John Galligher, under the firm name Burner and Galligher. At the break out of the War of the Rebellion, he enlisted in Captain Stewart's Company of the Seventy Sixth Regiment O.V.I. But after a short time he mustered out owing to disabilities. He then engaged in the hardware business, in which he prospered for several years. he also engaged in some other mercantile ventures, the last of which was the China store in the Newkirk building. Mr. Burner was for nine years a member of the Board of Education and from 1883 to 1887 was president of the board. Besides the widow, one son, Charles, and a daughter, Miss Daisy are left to mourn his passing.
