Son of Theobolt Veil and Kathrina Eberhard. ------ The Bismarck Tribune, 21 December 1956 Jacob Veil, Sr., 84, Wilton, Dies Jacob Veil, Sr., 84, Wilton, died at 12:35 p.m. Thursday in St. Alexius Hospital, where he had been a patient 10 days. A native of South Russia, Mr. Veil was born Sept. 19, 1872, in Neudorf, the son of Theobolt and Katharina Veil. He grew up there and married Carolyne Meyer Oct. 16, 1895, at Neudorf. The Veils came to the United States in 1900, homesteading at Hosmer, S.D., and a short time later moving to a farm in Logan County, near Gackle and Streeter. Mr. Veil retired in 1943 and moved to Bismarck. His wife died April 30, 1949. Prior to his hospitalization, Mr. Veil resided at the Baron Home for the Aged in Mandan and the Goehring Home for the Aged in Wilton. He is survived by three sons, Jacob, Gackle; David, Fargo, and Gottlieb, Walla Walla, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Eva) Wolf, Robinson, and Mrs. Fred (Carolina) Martin, Lake Williams, N.D.; one sister, Mrs. Peter Miller, Gackle; one brother, Theobolt, Streeter; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. His parents, five sons, one daughter, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the chapel of the Boelter Funeral Home by the Rev. G.V. Schnaidt. Pallbearers will be August Wolf, Edwin Wolf and Leonard Martin, all of Robinson; Edward Martin, Steele; Dwight Rau, Napoleon, and Clarence Woodworth, Tuttle. Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery. The family requests no flowers. Memorials will be accepted instead.
