Description	:	Jacob Vos 1887-1968 Jacob Vos, Route 2, New Sharon, died at his home Sept.23 at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 19 days. He had been in failing health for many years. He had lived in the Peoria community since the age of two. Jacob was one of 12 children born to John and Gertrude(Newendorp) Vos and was born near Leighton on Oct. 4, 1887 He made his confession of Faith at an early age and was a member of the Peoria Christian Reformed church. Read More	Jacob Vos 1887-1968 Jacob Vos, Route 2, New Sharon, died at his home Sept.23 at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 19 days. He had been in failing health for many years. He had lived in the Peoria community since the age of two. Jacob was one of 12 children born to John and Gertrude(Newendorp) Vos and was born near Leighton on Oct. 4, 1887 He made his confession of Faith at an early age and was a member of the Peoria Christian Reformed church. He had served as elder and deacon of the church. He farmed on the home farm. He had been on the board of directors of the New Sharon bank for about 40 years. He had also served on the boards of tne Taintor Cooperative and the Garden Chapel funeral home. Dec. 27, 1927, in Pella, he was married to Johanna Alida Kolenbrander, who survives him. There are two surviving children, Elmer Jay Vos, who live at home, and Miriam Joy Vos of Oskaloosa. A brother, John Vos of Peoria, and two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Verhey of Pella and Mrs. Bertha Van Wyk of Route 2, Pella, also survive him. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gysbert, Henry and Christian Vos, and by five sisters, Jennie, Kate, Nellie, Ida and Marie Vos. Funeral services were held at (illegible) Reformed church Sept 26 at 2p.m. with Family prayer service in the church basement at 1:45 p.m. The Rev. Donald Drost officiated at the services. Psalm 81, Verse 12 was sung by the congregation. "All The Way My Savior Leads' was sung by Gilbert Vander WaL Mrs. Kenneth Fynaardt was the organist Casket bearers were Ben A. Vos, Henry Vande Voort, Cecil Vander Molen, Jr., Thomas Vander Hart, John Kloosterman and Henry Nibbelink. Interment was in the Peoria cemetery.
