Burton Sheppard, pastor of the Marion Street M.E. church, in charge. The interment was in Linwood Park cemetery west. Six lifelong friends of Mr. Brittain acted as pallbearers and were Harry Kemmerer, Sherman Smith, Wm. Jennings, James Condon, Herman Lindmark and Alex McVicker. The Rev. With Mrs. Grant Jennings at the organ a quartette composed of Mrs. J.H. Marston, and Misses Beatrice Jennings, Minnie Peterson and Pearl Miller sang two songs, "God Will Take Care of You" and "Saved by Grace." The esteem in which in which this well-known Boone county man was held in the community was evidenced by the many friends who gathered to assist in the last rites. His was a life that was well and profitable spent, the knowledge of which should comfort the widow and bereaved relatives more than any other thought. Jacob Willott Brittain, son of Jacob and Cassandra Brittain, was born in Lucerne county, Pennsylvania, Dec. 29, 1848 and died at his home in Dodge township, April 19, 1915, at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 20 days. In 1875 he came to Boone county, and settled here. He was united in marriage to Miss Eleanora A. Gibbons, in 1882. To this union were born two children, Flroence A. and Charles Jacob, but both died in early childhood. Mr. Brittain lived many years in Boone county and he was one of the men who have brought this section of the state of Iowa in the fore.
