| Description | : | Jacob Zimmerman was born in Biscelsburg, Neuenburg, Germany, on February 8, 1837. Shortly thereafter, in the same year, he was baptized. He was instructed in the Christian faith and confirmed in the year 1851. In 1853 he left his land of birth and came to America. After landing in New York City he worked there until 1858. From there he went to Lincoln, Illinois. In 1860 he was united in holy wedlock with Elizabeth Luz.
