Friday, April 25th. The body was brought to Creighton Sunday and the funeral was held from the Catholic Church 11 o'clock Monday. Jacob Luening was born in Germany on May 15th, 1835 and died at the age of 83 years, 11 months and ten days. In 1882, he came to America with his family and went to West Point, Neb, where they resided on a farm for seven years. Later he moved to the vicinity of Creighton where he purchased a farm. Later he rented his farm. Later he rented his farm and retired to live with his son and daughter. His wife died shortly after he moved to Creighton. Owing to illness incident to advanced age of Mr. Luening suffered chronic illness for several years. He is survived by six children; Bernard and Herman Luening and Mrs. Anne Wengs of Creighton. Henry Luening and Mrs. Bertha Hazelhorst who reside in Canada, and sister Mary Ludmillen, a nun of Jemez. New Mexico. Mr. Luening was a man who lived a lifetime is honor and respect. By furgality he attained a goodly property from which he gave generously to charity. His passing in death removes from the family, a parent who was ever attentive to the children, and family while living. Whose anxiety was ever for their welfare and who will miss him from their midst. Friends with whom the News joins extended sympathy to those who grieve the loss of a true father. 24 April 1919.
