Gerber, for many years a resident of Rockwell City, died at his home Sunday, April 4. Mr. Gerber was 85 years and 19 days old at the time of his death. Mr. Gerber was born in 1841 in Orwigsburg, Pa. He was united in marriage to Suzan M. Reigal at Lebanon, Pa., in 1862. Six children were born to this union. He came west in the early years of his life and first settled in 1881 at Mt. Pulaski, Illinois. From there he moved to Carroll, Iowa. He came in 1906 to Rockwell City, where he made his home until his death, with the exception of two years in California. Mr. Gerber became a member, of the Church of God at Carroll and remained of that faith until his death. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, and two daughters. He is survived by three children, Clarence R. Gerber of Los Angeles, Cal.; Walter C. Gerber of Rockwell City, and Mrs. J.R. Pratt, also of Rockwell City. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at his home in Rockwell City Thursday morning, April 8, with Rev. R.B. Fisher of the Presbyterian church officiating. Interment in Carroll cemetery Thursday afternoon. - Rockwell City Advocate.
