Description	:	James A. Gusaas, 54 of Ellendale, ND was born August 1, 1949, at Trinity Hospital in Jamestown, ND. He was the son of Harry and Eileen (Foy) Gusaas. James attended the first grade at Plano Country School. Second through 12th grade he attended Marion Public School. James graduated from Marion High School in 1967. He went on to attend the University of North Dakota, Ellendale Branch from 1967 to 1969. He then transferred to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND where he graduated in 1972. He was the son of Harry and Eileen (Foy) Gusaas. James attended the first grade at Plano Country School. Second through 12th grade he attended Marion Public School. James graduated from Marion High School in 1967. He went on to attend the University of North Dakota, Ellendale Branch from 1967 to 1969. He then transferred to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND where he graduated in 1972. James was employed one year at GAC Finance in Bismarck, ND, three years at the Bank of North Dakota as a Bank Examiner in Bismarck, seven years at the Peoples and Enderlin State Bank in Enderlin, ND and was employed for 20 years as an Ag Loan Officer at Starion Financial in Ellendale, ND. On June 19, 1982, James married Joletta Volk. James enjoyed golfing, bowling, pool, skiing, cards, playing baseball and football with his boys and family trips. He was active on many boards and organizations in Ellendale. James died at his home in Ellendale October 28, 2003 after an 11week struggle with melanoma. James leaves his wife, Joletta and three sons, Justin, Joshua and Jeremy all of Ellendale, ND; parents, Harry and Eileen Gusaas of Jamestown; one brother and sister-in-law, Nancy & Jerry Fuchs of Jamestown, ND; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by one infant son Jared, one brother Dale and his grandparents. Visitation was from 2-6 pm on October 31, at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. A prayer service was held at 7:30 pm October 31, at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, Ellendale. The funeral was 10:30 am November 1, at St. Helena’s Catholic Church, Ellendale, with Father Duaine M. Cote, officiating and visitation was one hour prior to service. Burial is at St. Helena’s Catholic Cemetery. Published in the Litchville Bulletin, Litchville, North Dakota, November 5, 2003.
