Description	:	James Alexander Cooper was born on Sunday; January 24, 1875 on a farm north of Ewart; Poweshiek County, Iowa where he grew to manhood. He was the son of: James and Barbara (Anderson) Cooper. On Monday; December 25, 1899 (Christmas Day) James married Rosa Andrews. To this union two sons were born. Read More	James Alexander Cooper was born on Sunday; January 24, 1875 on a farm north of Ewart; Poweshiek County, Iowa where he grew to manhood. He was the son of: James and Barbara (Anderson) Cooper. On Monday; December 25, 1899 (Christmas Day) James married Rosa Andrews. To this union two sons were born. Most of their married life was spent in the Montezuma; Poweshiek County, Iowa community, except for 12 years spent on a farm near Fillmore; Saskatchewan, Canada. Mrs. Cooper passed away on Wednesday; December 28, 1960. Early in life, James joined the Methodist Church at Ewart, Iowa. After returning from Canada, he transferred his membership to the Christian Church in Montezuma, Iowa where he was a faithful member until failing health prevented his attending. James Alexander Cooper, age 90, passed away on Saturday; January 1, 1966 at his home in Montezuma, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His two sons: William A Cooper of Van Nuys; Los Angeles County, California and Virgil J. Cooper with the Armed Forces in Okinawa. His three sisters: Mrs. Ella Long, Miss Mary Cooper, both of Grinnell; Poweshiek County, Iowa and Mrs. Alma Johnson of Union; Hardin County, Iowa. His seven grandchildren and his three great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his wife and two sisters: Jeannie Ann Cooper and Mrs. Alice McLain. May they rest in peace. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon; January 3, 1966 at the Steffy Funeral Home. Interment was in the Jackson Township Cemetery.
