He had just completed his final round of par golf. Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2021, at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Kwang Song officiating. Online condolences may be sent for Jim's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com James Allen Logan was born November 17, 1947, in Washington, Iowa, the son of John Allen and Rhea C. (Buck) Logan. He graduated from Washington High School in 1966 where he was a member of the football, basketball and golf teams. He attended Iowa State University where he met the love of his life, Anna Jones. Jim graduated from ISU in 1970 with a degree in Horticulture and Golf Course Management. He was united in marriage to Anna Jones on June 6, 1970, in Ames, Iowa. The couple moved to Akron, Ohio, where Jim was the Superintendent of the North Course at Firestone Golf and Country Club, which hosted several professional golf tournaments. In 1972, they moved back to Washington where Jim began working with his parents at Logan Jewelry. He later became the owner of Logan Jewelry. Jim took trips twice a year to Antwerp, Belgium, to hand pick and purchase diamonds for his customers. In 1999, Jim and Ann moved to Phoenix, AZ, where Jim worked at and later managed Jared's Jewelry Store. Jared's asked Jim to open and manage a new Jared's store at Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines, Iowa, so they returned to Iowa in 2004. In 2006, they moved back to Washington, IA, where Jim began working as the Executive Director for the Washington County Riverboat Foundation where he assisted in the grant application and grant distribution process. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Washington His love of golf started in the seventh grade when he became a "junior member" of the Washington Golf and Country Club and continued his entire life. In recent years, he enjoyed genealogy and loved to hike the trails at Lake Darling and the KeWash trail. He enjoyed boating and spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family and grandchildren. Jim was very civic minded and belonged to many organizations including Past President of Washington Noon Kiwanis and the Washington Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Board of Directors of the Washington Golf and Country Club for a number of years. Jim served on the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Washington and was an active member of IJO (International Jewelers Organization) where he mentored young jewelers. He is survived by his wife, Ann Logan of Washington, IA; daughter, Heather Workman and her husband James of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Lisa Vittetoe and husband Darrin of North Liberty, IA; five grandchildren: Alexa, Gabrielle & Eli Workman; and Taylor and Logan Vittetoe; brother, Thomas Logan and wife Jean; niece, Abigail Logan; nephew, Grant Logan all of Des Moines, IA; and many other family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by father in 1988 and his mother in 2010.
