Description	:	James Allen "Jim" Wehrs was born September 15, 1930, in Seward, NE. to Edward and Maurine (Miller) Wehrs, the youngest of three children and passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Crestview Care Center, Milford, NE. Read More	James Allen "Jim" Wehrs was born September 15, 1930, in Seward, NE. to Edward and Maurine (Miller) Wehrs, the youngest of three children and passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Crestview Care Center, Milford, NE. As a young boy he attended Milford Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1948. On August 5, 1951, Jim was united in marriage to the love of his life, Beverly Bottrell in Pleasant Dale and to this union four children were born, Terry, Bob, Carolyn and Brian. He was drafted into the US Army in the fall of 1951 and served with the 17th Field Artillery during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge he returned to Nebraska, where he continued farming with his father on the family farm. Later in 1960, Jim and Bev purchased a farm where they made their home until moving into Milford in 1989. Jim raised cattle, grains and was proud of his cattle business. Jim was hardworking and very dedicated to farm life. He and his family received the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award from the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben for the Wehrs Farm. Jim was a member of the Milford Mennonite Church and Milford American Legion Post #171. He also served on the board of the Seward County Ag Society, Milford Public School District #5, and Farmland CoOp. He served the CoOp for 16 years and as President for eight of those years. In his spare time when he was not farming, he enjoyed sports, especially football and loved watching the wrestling matches that his children participated in as well as playing cards with family and friends. Jim is survived by: wife, Bev Wehrs of Milford, NE.; children and spouses, Terry and Lori Wehrs, Milford, NE., Bob and Sherri Wehrs, Milford, NE., Carolyn and Brian Schweitzer, Milford, NE. and Brian and Denee Wehrs, Lincoln, NE.; grandchildren and spouses, Fr. Ken Wehrs, David City, Tyler Wehrs, Norfolk, Dru Wehrs, Kearney, Emily and Brett Burgess, Hyannis, Joseph, John and Mary Wehrs, Milford, Travis and Jen Wehrs, Ft. Myers, FL, Kaci Wehrs, Lincoln, Colton Wehrs, Milford, Austin and Jamie Schweitzer, Lincoln, Aundraia and Scott Hajek, Lincoln, Logan Schweitzer, Lincoln, Samara Schweitzer, Milford, Taylor and Kade Wehrs, Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Ty Wehrs, Lincoln, Kira Schweitzer, Lincoln, Molly Burgess, Hyannis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Ruth Wehrs, Seward, NE. and Roger and Mary Ann Wehrs, Tulsa, OK.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley Pedersen, Goehner,NE. and Charlene and Mike Duncan, La Crosse, WI.; and a host of relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by: parents and brother-in-law, Cliff Pedersen. Intermetn was in The Blue Mound Cemetery, Milford, NE.
