Description	:	Funeral services for James A. Burley who came to Broadus, Montana in 1915 were held Saturday morning in the Powder River Congregational Church with the Rev. Karl Helwig of the First Baptist Church officiating. Mr. Burley, 88, died Wednesday evening at the Miles City Veterans Medical Center. Burley who came to Broadus, Montana in 1915 were held Saturday morning in the Powder River Congregational Church with the Rev. Karl Helwig of the First Baptist Church officiating. Mr. Burley, 88, died Wednesday evening at the Miles City Veterans Medical Center. Mr. Burley was born March 17, 1894 at Osceola, Nebraska the son of Howard and Alice Burley. When he was one year old, the family moved to Norden, NE where he was raised and educated. December 4, 1915, he and his cousin came to the Broadus area by horseback. Mr. Burley worked on various ranches and in March of 1916 filed on his homestead. He was a World War I Veteran. After his discharge, he returned to his homestead and remained there until 1976 when he moved to Broadus to live with his daughter, Thelma Taylor and family until his death. Mr. Burley married Freda Mitchell May 18, 1923 at Miles City, MT. Mrs. Burley died in 1976. Mr. Burley is survived by two daughters, Mrs. B.C. (Carrie) Weber of Sheridan, WY and Mrs. Francis (Thelma) Taylor of Broadus: two sons, Scott and Everett, both of Broadus
