The following is from the Lennox Diamond Jubilee Book. Mr. and Mrs. James A. Eddy were pioneer settlers of Delaware Township. Mr. Eddy was born August 1, 1844, at Crown Point, N. Y., and when a young boy his parents moved to Rosendale, Wis. When he was only 18 years old he enlisted in Company H, 20th Wisconsin volunteer infantry, and he served for three years. Later he went into the regular army routine and remained engaged in these duties for five years. Following his services in the army he returned to his home in Wisconsin where he married Miss Mary E. Fordice of Rosendale. Three children were subsequently born to this union, including Mrs. Frank Woodley, Roy E. Eddy, and Guy H. Eddy. In 1879 the couple immigrated into Dakota Territory, continuing in the upbuilding of their farm enterprise until their deaths. Mr. Eddy preceded his wife in death, passing away September 1, 1916. Mrs. Eddy passed away on March 2, 1921 at the farm home, attaining the age of 74 years, one month and three days at the time of her demise. Mr. and Mrs. Eddy were interred at the Lennox cemetery
