Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel where family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. Jim was born February 27, 1933, in Minburn, IA to Carl and Esther (Slaughter) Reves and lived most of his life in the Adel area. He graduated from Washington Township School and attended Drake University. Jim married Rita Book, also of Washington Township, on February 7, 1953, at St. Patrick's Church in Perry, IA. To this union five children were born; Barbara Loghry, Daniel Reves, Stephen Reves, Dianne (Brian) Countryman, and Elaine (Alan) Honold; grandchildren, James (Lindsey) Loghry, Ashley Reves and fiance Kevin Meganck, Abigail Countryman and fiancé Reed Huebner, Matthew and Sarah Honold; great-grandchildren, Ella Loghry and Trevin Huebner.Jim served in the U.S. Army as a member of The 25th Military Police Company, 25th Infantry Division "Tropic Lightning", based in South Korea and Hawaii. Upon returning home from active duty, Jim farmed until he retired in 2000. He was also employed by Massey Ferguson in Des Moines for 10 years. Jim along with Dave Wilson were the organizers of the original 25th Military Police Company reunions in 1996. Jim loved his family, was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Adel, was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, enjoyed military history, built remote control model airplanes, and had a great time traveling with his wife and family. In addition to his wife and children, Jim is survived by his sister Dorothy Bose (Terry) and his two sister-in-law's, Vera Reves and Cynthia Reves, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Jerry, brothers, Harry and Robert, and his son-in-law Dennis Loghry. Memorial contributions may be directed to his church, Washington Township School Restoration Foundation or Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
