He was a retired machinist at the former Hardsocg Pneumatic Tool Company. He was born Feb. 23, 1903, at Hamburg, Ill. to Herbert and Clara Hornbeck Draper. He had lived in Ottumwa since 1940. He was a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple. He married Thelma P. Davis Sept. 1, 1940, in Memphis, Mo. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Herbert Draper of Collinsville, Ill., Dennis Draper of Ottumwa and David Draper of Norwalk; three daughters, Mrs. Martha Potter of Granite City, Ill., Mrs. Dianna Chavez of Hiawatha and Cindy Draper at home; one stepson, Clyde Davis of Ottumwa; two step-daughters, Mrs. Mary Orman and Mrs. Sandra Findley of Ottumwa; 16 grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Mable Youngblood and Mrs. Mary Manley of Bethalto, Ill. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. The service will be Friday at 3 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel. The Rev. A.D. Pringle of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple will officiate with burial in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Russell Venator, Lewis Steele, Earl Jones, Steve and Chris Davis and Dave Orman.
