Description	:	James married Jane S. (Butler?) in VA and moved to TN where all except one of their children were born. John Harris Brown, the youngest child, was born in 1844 in Franklin County, AL. The family moved back to TN, then left in 1857 to move West. They were in TX, Shelby County, (Truit's Store) in 1860 census. After the War Between the States the started back to TN, stopping awhile in Natchitoches Parish, LA where they were in the 1870 census, then Winn Parish by the 1880 census. They never made it back to TN. James and Jane settled... Read More	James married Jane S. (Butler?) in VA and moved to TN where all except one of their children were born. After the War Between the States the started back to TN, stopping awhile in Natchitoches Parish, LA where they were in the 1870 census, then Winn Parish by the 1880 census. They never made it back to TN. James and Jane settled where Brown Cemetery is located before 1880. They were buried there and large brown rock slabs covered their graves and brown rock stones marked head and foot and around sides of graves. Before the year 2000 a tornado touched down in the cemetery and many cedar trees were up-rooted or broken off including the trees planted to mark their graves and those of their daughter, Charlotta Brown Rice, and her husband, Abner James Rice. Children of James & Jane Brown were: Martha Ann Brown Gipson 1826-1901, Thomas Jefferson Brown 1831-1891, Charlotta Brown Rice 1833-1920, Melvina Brown 1838-1920, Lucinda Brown Moore 1838-1908, John Harris Brown 1844-DOD Unk.
