James Buchanaan Coble, 90, father of Dennis J. Coble, 313 North Hancock street, died Wednesday at the home of Howard Kerr in Delta. He was born in Indiana, February 27, 1857, the son of Simpson and Mary Coble, and lived in Missouri until 1946 when he moved to Iowa. Mr. Coble is survived by two sons Dennis Coble of Ottumwa and Charles Coble of Oregon; five grandchildren, Mrs. Gladys White and Mrs. Edgar Basil, both of Ottumwa; Mrs. Ralph Utterback of Mesa, Ariz.; Mrs. Torrence Mills of Sigourney; and Mrs. Wanda Turpin of Newton. Eight great grandchildren also survive. The body is at the Reynolds funeral home in Sigourney pending completion of funeral arrangements. ------------------------- Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” April 11, 1947: JAMES COBLE. DELTA.–James Coble, 90 died of a heart attack Wednesday afternoon at the Howard Kerr home southeast of town. The pioneer resident spent most of his life in Keokuk county. Surviving are one son, Dennis, of Ottumwa, and five grandchildren, Mrs. Torrence Mills of Harper, Mrs. Edgar Basil and Mrs. Gladys White of Ottumwa, Ralph Utterback of Texas and Mrs. Wanda Ratt of California. The body is at the Reynolds funeral home in Sigourney.
