Description	:	VETERAN--World War II ***** James “Bud” Weishaar 90, passed away Thursday, May 26th, in Abilene. He was born January 26, 1926 at Elmo, the son of Hugo and Ollie (Longhofer) Weishaar. Growing up in the area, Bud attended local schools and graduated from Hope High School with the class of 1944. Read More	VETERAN--World War II ***** James “Bud” Weishaar 90, passed away Thursday, May 26th, in Abilene. He was born January 26, 1926 at Elmo, the son of Hugo and Ollie (Longhofer) Weishaar. Growing up in the area, Bud attended local schools and graduated from Hope High School with the class of 1944. He was a World War II Army veteran having served in Okinawa and with the occupation forces in Korea until 1946. On April 28, 1947, Bud married Wilmetta Sellers in Abilene. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. He had been employed by Meade Battery and Electric for fifty years, retiring in 1996. Bud enjoyed playing bridge and golf, especially the men’s senior tournaments. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Maudie Marie Vinduska and Evelyn Martin and a grandson, Jon Weishaar. Bud was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, the V.F.W., and a 52 year member of the Elk’s Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Wilmetta “Willie” Weishaar of Abilene; two daughters, Diane (Dee) Greenough of Abilene and Denise (Dennis) Haynes of Hays; a son, Dennis (Teresa) Weishaar of Abilene; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin (Mary) Weishaar of Liberty,MO and other relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 1st, at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Abilene with Fr. Henry Baxa officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery north of Abilene. A parish rosary will be recited 5:00 PM Tuesday, May 31st, at the Danner Funeral Home with family visitation following until 6:30 PM. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to the Hospice of Dickinson County or the St. Andrews Catholic Church.
