Description	:	Jim was born in Clinton on October 10, 1923, the son of Phillip and Lenora (Leonard) Burke. After graduating from high school he served in K Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Regiment, 1st Marine Division of the United States Marine Corps from 1942 thru 1946 in the Pacific theater. Jim fought on the islands of New Britton, Peleliu and Okinawa, then spent the rest of his term in China. Jim married Alice Bower on August 5, 1950 in Camanche. Alice passed away on April 18, 1974. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; a son, Michael; two brothers, Phillip and Leonard and a sister, Jane Domsalla.
