Jett was born in the state of Kentucky, May 14, 1858, and passed away at his home in Council Bluffs, Iowa, June 21, 1926, aged 68 years, 1 months, and 7 days. In the year of 1886, he was married to Jennie E. Black at Moran, Kansas. Their early married life was spent in Kansas and Missouri, then moving to Iowa, and settling in Nodaway in 1900, where his wife and mother passed away September 30, 1905. Mr. Jett moved to Council Bluffs about 14 years go, where he engaged in mercantile business until his death. He is survived by two children, Ernest of Hawleyville, and Mrs. Nellie Day of near Nodaway; also nine grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Pearl Conway preceded her father in death 11 years ago. Mr. Jett became a member of the Presbyterian Church during his residence in Nodaway Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, in charge pf Rev. J. Corry. Members of the Masonic Lodge acted as pall bearers. Interment was made in Nodaway Cemetery. Adams County Union Republican, June 30, 1926
