Mr. Clayton was a member of the Keltonburg Church of Christ, retired carpenter and a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Callie Bain Adcock; daughter, Donna C. Phillips; brothers, J.B. Adcock, Eston Adcock, Eldon Adcock, Wilburn Adcock; sisters, Myrtle McCormick, Willow Rybeka, Jewell Jones, Shrily Adcock. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Green Adcock of Smithville; sons, Phillip (Carolyn) Adcock and Wayne (Brenda) Adcock both of Smithville; daughters, Carol (Eddie) Green of Smithville, Jane (Don) Crouch of McMinnville, Peggy Shuster of Murfreesboro, Elaine (Trey) Axum of Woodbury; sisters, Virginia Daniels, Betty J. Jones and Mildred Johnson all of Smithville; son-in-law, Barry Phillips of Hermitage; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; devoted caregivers, Brenda Crook and Shirley Turner. Funeral services will be conducted 1:PM Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Matthew Bouldin and Jonathan Stubblefield officiating with burial to follow in Keltonburg Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 12 Noon until 8:PM and Wednesday 10AM until the time of the service. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. ========================== James Clayton Adcock was born in 1924 to parents James Edgar and Callie Bain Adcock of the Belk community. His siblings included: Willow Mai, Arlie Myrtle, Jewel T., J.B., Betty, Albert, Eston, Mildred, and Virginia Adcock. He married Dorothy Green on 24 February 1950; their children are Donna. Phillip, Carol, Jane, Peggy, Elaine and Wayne. He entered the Army Air Corp on 27 January 1943 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. A private, he trained at Miami Beach, Florida; Mitchell Field, New York; Kessler Field, Mississippi, and was discharged on 17 September 1943 at Keesler Field, Mississippi.
