Lowry, 88, Edgefield County Citizen Succumbs Greenwood, March 26. – James Conrad Lowry, 88, retired farmer of the Meeting Street section of Edgefield county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Walton on Route 3 at 7:30 o'clock this morning following nine months of ill health. The son of the late James Foy Lowry and Martha Still Lowry, Mr. Lowry was born and reared in the section in which he died. He was the oldest living member of Stevens Creek Baptist Church. Besides Mrs. Walton, he is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. A. F. Shaffer, of Elmer, Okla., and Mrs. Allene Ouzts, of Roebuck; four sons, W. F. Lowry and E. P. Lowry, of Ninety-Six; G. M. Lowry, Saluda; J. C. Lowry, Chester; and O. O. Lowry, Augusta; 33 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. He was the last member of his immediate family. Funeral services will be held from the McKendree Church in Edgefield County Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock conducted by The Rev. H. B. White and the Rev. W. C. Kelley. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Note: Obit says he is survived by four sons, yet five are isted.
