Read More	James was the son of Morris Cook and Elizabeth Cooper. He married Candis Cook on Jan 10, 1875 in Lee Co, IL. They were the parents of Anna Pearl (Hanson), William, Elizabeth (Calder), Mildred (Calder), Morris, Jean, and James. Jefferson Herald - Thursday, February 26, 1925 - It was with deep sorrow that the Willow township community received the sad word of the passing of one of its most highly esteemed and honored citizens, James Cook. Mr. Cook had not been feeling well for some time and developed a case of pneumonia and passed away rather suddenly at his home Friday, February 20, 1925, at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 19 days. He was born in New Jersey in 1850 and when but a child moved with his parents to Illinois where he grew to young manhood and was married to Miss Candis Cook on January 10, 1875. In 1882 he moved his family to Iowa, settling on a farm in Greene county, near Scranton, where they have since resided, excepting one year spent in Jefferson. Seven children came to bless this home, namely: Mrs. Pearl Hanson of Jefferson, Mrs. Elizabeth Calder of Scranton, Mrs. Mildred Calder of Ralston, Morris Cook of Glidden, Miss Jean and James jr. at home and one son, William, preceded his father in death in 1905. Beside the loving wife and the children who are left to mourn his death he leaves three brothers: John of San Diego, Ca; George of Rockford, IL; Morris of Steward, IL., and one sister, Mrs. John Page of Scranton, and a host of friends and neighbors who will miss him from the community where he has lived more than forty years. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the home with Rev. W.V. Wills of Jefferson, an old time friend, in charge of the service. Burial was made in the Willow cemetery.
