They were the parents of James. Sept 7, 1909 - Carroll Sentinel - James Cronan died at his home in this city September second after a protracted illness from diabetes. He was able to be around until the last few days previous to his death, though he was unable to work for several months previous. The funeral was held at the home Saturday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. J.W. Taylor of the Methodist church. The remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery. James Cronan was born April 28, 1868 in New York City. He was an orphan at the age of nine months and was brought to Wheatland, Iowa when six years old and placed in family by the name of Jacob Timpe who raised him until the age of 17 when he cared for himself. He was married to Miss Mollie C. Eppert October 27, 1897 in Carroll. They began housekeeping at Auburn and in 1908 moved to Lake City where they remained four years. In 1902 they moved to this city and have made this their home since. To this union there was born one son, James Leroy, who is now nine years old. The deceased was a kind affectionate man to his family and was in fact, a father and husband to them. Now that he is gone they sadly mourn his loss.
