Jim (James) Curtis Breece, son of Earl and Eveline (Olson) Breece, was born May 1, 1929, in Creighton, Nebraska. He attended Creighton Public School and was a life-long resident of Creighton. Jim served in the US Army from 1946 to 1948. Following his honorable discharge from the military, Jim worked at Overholt Implement as a service technician. He was married to Jeannette Means on February 28, 1953, at Neligh, Nebraska. They were blessed with three children, Becky, Kevin, and David. Jim worked for the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for 30 years. Jim was a member of the Faith United Church, the Creighton Volunteer Fire Department and the VFW Post #1151 where he held various offices. Jim enjoyed golfing and was a member of Plainview and Creighton Golf Courses. Following retirement Jim and Jeannette spent many winters in Mission, Texas where they enjoyed the wonderful weather and made many friends. Because of his outgoing nature, Jim never met a stranger. He enjoyed driving through car lots, going for long car rides, fishing, cheering on the Huskers, dancing on Sunday afternoons, getting a great deal, going to the casino, and living life to the fullest. Jim had a great gift for telling stories and he had a story for everything. Survivors include his daughter, Becky Vrooman and husband Willard of Winnetoon; sons, Kevin Breece and wife Mary Jo of Holdrege and David Breece and wife Judee of South Fork, Colorado; four grandchildren, Kortney Sayers and husband Ben of Orchard, Karen Vrooman and friend Mike Corn, of Creighton, Heather Breece of Lincoln, and Nolan Breece of Holdrege; eight step grandchildren, Byron Hedrick and wife Cassie Jo, Whitney Dibbern and husband Ben, Mindee Hedrick, Trey Breece, Brandon Moser, Ashton Sandman, Dillon Sandman, and Ethon Sandman and wife Haley; six great grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; a sister, Jo Ann Berglund of Norfolk; brothers-in-law, Willis (Bill) Means of Columbus and Norman Bohl of Stanton; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind special friends and neighbors, Bruce and Jan Jorgensen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette of 55 years who passed on June 13th, 2008; his parents; a sister, Norma Jean Barton; brother-in-law, Richard Berglund; sisters-in-law, Geneva Bohl and Janis Means; and a grandson, Peyton Breece.
