A telegram from the chairman of the Home Service Department of the Red Cross says the body will reach Nelson Sunday. ==== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, January 15, 1920; pg. 1 SOLDIER BOY PASSES ON James Daniel Miller was born on November 2, 1898, at Rainey, St. Clair county (sic), Mo. He volunteered his services in the World war August 8, 1917, and left for overseas January 12, 1918, and returned on May 30, 1919. His health was such that on June 8th he was taken to the army general hospital at Ft. Ft. (sic) Bayard, N.M., where he died of tuberculosis peritonitis on January 5, 1920, aged 21 years, 2 months, 3 days. He leaves to mourn his death, father, mother, seven brothers and three sisters all of whom were present at the funeral, except two. The remains were brought here for burial and the funeral occurred from the Christian church Monday afternoon, being conducted by Rev. Shirley, assisted by Rev. Wilcox and Rev. Caldwell. The veterans of the World war attended in a body, had charge of the music and conducted the military ceremony at the grave. The pall bearers were Commrades (sic) Chas. Cottle, Alphus Deyo, Lawrence Swartz, Bill Eckles, Lewis Bolibaugh and Cliff Bottenfield.
