Description	:	James D. Boyd, 66, of Atlantic, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, James Deruelle Boyd was born July 28, 1938, in Storm Lake, Iowa the son of D. Boyd, 66, of Atlantic, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, James Deruelle Boyd was born July 28, 1938, in Storm Lake, Iowa the son of D. B. "Bill" Boyd and Ila Mae Thayer Boyd. He was a 1956 graduate of the Early, Iowa high school. On Aug. 9, 1959, Jim married Melba Bettin in the Early United Methodist Church. Jim was a custodian at the Early school from 1956 until 1967 and then work for the Payless Cash Way in Early, Iowa from 1967 until 1985. Melba and Jim move to Atlantic, Iowa 1985 in order for him to accept the assistant manager position at Payless Cash Way in Atlantic. Eventually, the firm was turned into United Building Center and Jim retired from there in 2002. He was a member of the Nishna Valley Shrine Club, Pymosa Lodge No. 271, where he was a past Worship Master; he was currently serving as secretary, Golden Rule Chapter No. 194 of the 0ES where he served numerous times as Worthy Patron, was a member of Nishna Hills Golf Club where he served as president and secretary-treasurer. Jim was also a member of the Early United Methodist Church in the Atlantic United Methodist Church. He served as Secretary of the Methodist men, served 21 years on the Early Fire Department, and currently served as a Rainbow Dad Assembly #43. He was a current district Dad for the Indigo District. He also served in 2004 as a state officer, Grand Sentinels of the Order of the Eastern Star. Jim was fond of playing golf, attending Eastern Star functions and supporting his grandchildren School events. He loved to play cards with his friends and to drive a school bus for the Atlantic schools. He rarely missed sporting events at Early, Crestland, and Atlantic schools. He is survived by one son, Dave and his wife Angie Boyd of Earlham, Iowa his daughter in her husband Julie and Brad Anderson of Schaller, Iowa, and his special Friend, JoAnn Runyan of Atlantic, Iowa; five grandchildren, Katie, Nikki, Rachel, Jamie, and Grant. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Elsie and Norbert Kacmarynski Linn Grove, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Bettin of Storm Lake, Iowa his brother-in-law and his wife Ed and Jan Bettin of Paullina, Iowa, and 30 nieces and nephews. Jim is also survived by TC his tomcat. Preceding the Jim in death were his parents D. B. "Bill" and Ila Boyd is wife Melba; a sister, Marian Wernimont; father-in-law, Ralph Bettin, as well as a sister in infancy, Dorothy Mae Boyd. Memorials may go to the Golden Rule Chapter No. 194 Order of the Eastern Star, Mercy Medical Foundation in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Atlantic School Booster Club.
