He was born on Feb. 2, 1926, in Harrisburg, Mo., the son of Thomas E. and Ruby Elder St. Clair. He married Elaine Holtkamp on July 4, 1944, in Montrose. She preceded him in death in 1999. He was born on Feb. 2, 1926, in Harrisburg, Mo., the son of Thomas E. and Ruby Elder St. Clair. He married Elaine Holtkamp on July 4, 1944, in Montrose. She preceded him in death in 1999. Survivors include: two sons, Ralph (wife Linda) St. Clair of Montrose and Thomas (wife Connie) St. Clair of Keokuk; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard St. Clair of Montrose; several nieces and nephews; and a son-in-law, Ron Welch of Argyle. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Beverly Welch in 1999; a sister, Barbara Wahley; and a brother, Charles St. Clair. He was a retired guard from the Iowa State Penitentiary with 26 years of service. Mr. St. Clair served on the Montrose Volunteer Fire Department. He was an active supporter of the Montrose Watermelon Festival. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. St. Clair was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Montrose. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church in Montrose, with the Rev. Gerald Hoenig officiating. Burial will be in the Montrose Cemetery. Friends may call today at Hofbauer Funeral Home in Donnellson, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.
