Description	:	James Donald Magers of Yacolt, Washington, passed away at home on January 31, 2013, from a heart attack at the age of 81. He was born in Fontana, Kansas, on March 29, 1931, the son of James R. and Gladys r. (Trumbo) Magers. James graduated from Parker High School, joined the U.S. Army, and proudly served his country during the Korean War. James married Barbara Ann Long on October 14, 1956. Read More	James Donald Magers of Yacolt, Washington, passed away at home on January 31, 2013, from a heart attack at the age of 81. He was born in Fontana, Kansas, on March 29, 1931, the son of James R. and Gladys r. (Trumbo) Magers. James graduated from Parker High School, joined the U.S. Army, and proudly served his country during the Korean War. James married Barbara Ann Long on October 14, 1956. They had four children and opened their home to others throughout the years. James began working as a farmer at age ten, taking over the fields after his father had a heart attack. He then trained as a mechanic in the Army. The family moved to Clark County, Washington in 1964 and he began working as a mechanic, and later as a shop foreman, for the Clark public Utilities. He helped build several local churches and loved to travel. He is survived by his wife Barbara of Yacolt, Washington; sister, Lois Beal of Graham, Washington; and brother Dale of Vancouver, Washington; by children, Donald E. Magers of Anchorage, Alaska, Debra O'Connor of Wasilla, Alaska; Charles Magers of Vancouver, Washington; Kim West of battle Ground, Washington, Mary Atwood of Vancouver, Washington; and by eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A service was held at the Amboy Church of the Nazarene on Sunday, February 10, 2013. Donations in James' memory to Amboy Church of the Nazarene in Amboy, Washington or to VFW Post 12028.
