"Jim" Westhoff Sr., 63, of Stark, died at 8:35 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Labette County Medical Center, Parsons. He was born March 20, 1937, at Hepler, to E. Marion and Gertrude (Fager) Westhoff. He grew up and attended schools in Hepler. On March 3, 1956, he married Nancy Eggen at Walnut. She survives at the home. 'Jim' Westhoff, Sr. 20 March 1937 ~ 12 October 2000 PARSONS -- James E. "Jim" Westhoff Sr., 63, of Stark, died at 8:35 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Labette County Medical Center, Parsons. He was born March 20, 1937, at Hepler, to E. Marion and Gertrude (Fager) Westhoff. He grew up and attended schools in Hepler. On March 3, 1956, he married Nancy Eggen at Walnut. She survives at the home. In his earlier years, Mr. Westhoff worked at the O'Brien Ranch at Hepler. He then worked as a farmhand for the Don Reed and Alva Hagemann farms at rural Hepler. He also worked for the Smith Brothers Livestock, Grain and Hauling Co. at Stark. Mr. Westhoff became a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul, after St. Patrick's Church in Walnut was closed. Additional survivors include three sons, Jim E. Westhoff of Chanute, Rodney Westhoff of Moran and Randy Westhoff of Erie; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; one brother, Robert "Bob" Westhoff of Parsons; and five sisters, Julia Sapp of Hepler, Ellen Harris of Hepler, Pat Lucas of Omaha, Neb., Fern McDaniel of Frontenac and Doris Prickett of Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Barbara Westhoff in 1977 and Alisha Westhoff in 1966; one brother, William "Bill" Westhoff and two sisters, Olive Howell and Mary Goff. Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Walnut. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Walnut. The parish rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where the family will receive friends following the rosary. Friends may call at St. Patrick's Catholic Church after 1 p.m. Monday. Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Erie.
