Jim was born on January 6, 1950, in Lincoln, Nebraska. On February 24, 1973, Jim was united in marriage to Regina (Genie) Ann Schneider in Bauer, Iowa. Jim and Genie enjoyed traveling the United States by motorcycle for many years. Jim was a mechanic until he "retired", and still continued to work on cars and neighborhood farming equipment. He was a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters for over 20 years. He also enjoyed being a member of the classic car group, Early Wheels, as well as their neighborhood one-room schoolhouse community center, Hoosier Row. Jim and Genie enjoyed traveling south during the winter months and to see friends and family in various states. He found joy in making music, woodworking, fishing, golfing, cribbage, backgammon, and cards. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Magdalene Hansen, siblings, Ron Hansen, Karen Miller and Sharon Rummelhart. Memorials may be given in his name to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Iowa.
