He departed this life Tuesday October 21, 2014 at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, NE at the age of 62 years. The family moved to Hebron where Jim attended school and graduated from Hebron High School with the class of 1970. He continued his education attending Fairbury College. He went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad, then opened Jim's Tavern in Hebron which he operated for several years until selling the tavern and going to work for the City of Hebron. He held different positions, foreman, electrical, and water treatment plant superintendent. Jim worked for the city until retiring because of his health. Jim liked to spend time in God's great outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and going to garage sales. Especially spending time with his special friend Judy Nunn and family. He is preceded in death by his mother Delores Summers and his brother-in-law, Gary Schlechte. He is survived by his father John Summers of York, NE, special friend Judy Nunn of Hebron, NE, sister Cheryl Schlechte of York, NE, nieces; Stacy Schlechte of York, NE and Amy Bruch and husband Tyler of Waco, NE, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be Saturday October 25, 2014 at The United Methodist Church in Hebron, NE at 10:30 AM. Officiant will be Pastor Mark Baldwin, casket bearers; , honorary casket bearers; Lonnie Wiedel, Jack Priefert, Rich Drews, Ken Hofts, Charlie Ough, and Russ Hoffmeyer, visitation will be Friday October 24, 1pm to 7pm at Hebron Memorial Funeral Home in Hebron, NE. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in York, NE at a later date. Memorial in care of the family, condolences can be left www.krollfh.com . Jim requested everyone wear casual dress.
