Description	:	James Edward Ockerman was born July 17th, 1870 in Wayne county, Iowa and died at his home in Shelby, Iowa, Monday April 23rd, at the age of 52 years, 10 months and 6 days. His last illness continuing over several months. In 1895, on April 11th he was united in marriage to Ada R. Gleason and to this union three daughters and a son was born. Read More	James Edward Ockerman was born July 17th, 1870 in Wayne county, Iowa and died at his home in Shelby, Iowa, Monday April 23rd, at the age of 52 years, 10 months and 6 days. His last illness continuing over several months. In 1895, on April 11th he was united in marriage to Ada R. Gleason and to this union three daughters and a son was born. Mr. Ockerman became a member of the Christian church on Easter Sunday 1910 and was connected with the same until his death. He came with his family to the vicinity of Shelby in 1918 which has been his home up to the present time. He was a kind and loving husband and father and numbered his friends by those who knew him. Besides his faithful companion he leaves to mourn him, four children, who are: Mrs. Grover Seyersdahl, Mrs. Lawrence Slaughter, and Miss Madge, all of Shelby, and Walter of Omaha, Neb., also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ockerman of Clio, one brother Dan of Corydon and two grandchildren, Grover, Jr., and Melvin Eugene Seyersdahl. Joy of the desolate, light of the straying, Hope of the penitent, fadeless and pure, Here speaks the Comforter, tenderly saying, "Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot cure." The funeral service was held at the home at 3:30 o'clock p.m. Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Findley and burial was in the Shelby cemetery. The following relatives from away attended the funeral: J. W. Ockerman and wife of Clio, Dan Ockerman of Corydon, Claude Ockerman and Mrs. Albert Gleason of Allerton and Mrs. and Mrs. Walter Ockerman of Omaha. From The Shelby Times (Shelby County, Iowa)
