Description	:	James Edward Poore was born May 5, 1893, in Louisa County to Romulus and Phedyma Perry Poore. In 1915, he met and married Gertrude Josephine McDonald, in Louisa county, where they raised four daughters and one son, Edythe, Dorothy, Helen, James and Betty Anne Poore. The 1920 census shows them living in Louisa County and James was working as a foreman in the road work industry and they were renting a house. Read More	James Edward Poore was born May 5, 1893, in Louisa County to Romulus and Phedyma Perry Poore. In 1915, he met and married Gertrude Josephine McDonald, in Louisa county, where they raised four daughters and one son, Edythe, Dorothy, Helen, James and Betty Anne Poore. The 1920 census shows them living in Louisa County and James was working as a foreman in the road work industry and they were renting a house. His World War I draft registration lists James as being tall and stout having gray eyes with dark brown hair. It also stated he was working as a farmer. The 1930 census shows they were living just off Jefferson Highway and they owned their home and James had changed professions and was working as a salesman in the automobile industry. In 1940 they are still in Louisa County and own their house and James was working as an auto mechanic and the census states he completed up to the 5th grade and Gertrude completed up to her 2nd year in high school. On the World War II draft card it says he was working at Snead and Company in Orange, Virginia, in 1942. James died August 17, 1972, at Martha Jefferson Hospital. At the time of his death, his death certificate says he last worked as a motel attendant and as a motel operator. Gertrude died April 29, 1973, and is listed as being a housewife.
