Description	:	James Eugene “Gene” McDaniel, 81, resident of Rock House Road, husband of Audrey Fender McDaniel, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019, at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. Born December 9, 1937, in Greenwood, he was the son of the late James Willard and Marian Corley McDaniel. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Erskine College. Lt. Col. Read More	James Eugene “Gene” McDaniel, 81, resident of Rock House Road, husband of Audrey Fender McDaniel, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019, at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. Born December 9, 1937, in Greenwood, he was the son of the late James Willard and Marian Corley McDaniel. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Erskine College. Lt. Col. McDaniel retired from the US Army and the SC National Guard after more than 25 years of service. He served as the 2013-14, State Commander for the American Legion of South Carolina as well as a Past Commander of American Legion Post 20, where he was instrumental in the naming of The John Nave Memorial American Legion Baseball Stadium. He was a member of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class of the church. He was also a former member of The Golf Club at Star Fort and the Star Fort Seniors, and was a cattle and goat farmer with an enthusiasm for raising beagles and hunting rabbit. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a son, James Gregory “Greg” and wife Ruthie McDaniel of Gray Court; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn M. and husband Andrew Milliken of Rock Hill; a sister, Jayne McDaniel Bell of Greenwood; and one granddaughter, Alice Piper McDaniel Milliken. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with Rev. Bryant Sims and Rev. Steve Brown officiating.
