Read More	Another Proud and Brave Marine is on his final journey home to our Lord. James F. Girard was born in a winter storm in Spencer, Iowa on December 24, 1945 to Allen and Peggy Girard. He was raised in Camden, N.J. for 12 years before coming back to God's country in Iowa. He graduated from Royal High School in 1964 with a total of 16 classmates. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Marine Corps and his duty stations were NAS Miramar, a 13-month tour on the DMZ in Vietnam and the Marine Corp Recruit Depot in San Diego. Prior to his duty in Vietnam he met the most important person in his life, Paula Hicks his wife of 48 years. While in Vietnam he was blessed with the birth of his first son, James P. Girard. After his active duty he was hired at NAS North Island and trained to be an aircraft electrician thru four years of apprenticeship. During this time he and Paula were blessed with their second son, Kris. He worked 12 years there before moving to Everett, Wash. to become an electronic tech for Boeing. Employed by Boeing at the Everett flight line, Jim worked on the 747 and 767 aircrafts until he retired after 25 years. After retirement, he worked out in his shop as much as possible on a Vintage 26 Chevy Corvette along with his RC helicopters. He cherished the outdoors and very seldom had to work inside a building. The greatest times of his life were in Royal, Iowa where he got to help farm with his grandparents and participate in sports at a small high school. He was blessed with a wonderful family and dearly loved his wife and sons. James is survived by his loving wife, Paula; sons, Jim (Sherry) and Kris (Angie); grandsons, Mitchell, Kolby and Nathan; brother, Allen (Diane); Aunt Judy and family. James is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest and Mary Manning; mother, Peggy Cockburn; uncle, Leo Manning and father, Allen Girard. I truly cherished all the close friendships made in my 68 years. Thank you. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to the Heart, Kidney, or Disabled Veterans Foundations.
