Kendall was born September 6, 1858 at Lafayette, Indiana and died in the St Vincent hospital, Sioux City, Iowa, on January 11, 1931, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 16 days. He was the son of William and Sarah Kendall. At the age of twelve, he with his parents, moved to Pella, Iowa. From there he came to Dixon County, Nebraska., where he resided for 42 years. For the past 15 years he has been a resident of Ponca, Nebraska. In 1891 he was married to Hettie Marie Merritt at Ponca, Nebraska, daughter of Charles E. Merritt and Sarah Ann Irwin Merritt. To this union were born seven children; four daughters, Mrs. Dean Conrad of Ponca, Mrs. B. W. Rahn of Witten, South Dakota, Ruth and Helen of Sioux City, Iowa and three sons, William who died in infancy, Lee of Ponca, and Frank of Omaha. Mr. Kendall was active in politics of his community, having served four years on the county board, three years as township assessor, two years as city assessor and held various township and board of education offices. He was chosen state representative for four terms by the people of Dixon county serving during the sessions of 1921, 1923 1927 and 1929 and two special sessions. Mr. Kendall was an ardent worker in the religious life of the community. He also took an active part in the promotion of better education and contributed much for the interests of Dixon county. He was a prominent member of the I. O. O. F. lodge of Ponca, a member of the Rebekah fraternal order, the Imperial Order of the Muscovite's and also, the Modern Woodmen of America.
