Description	:	James Franklin Armstrong died suddenly Saturday doing what he enjoyed most, hunting with family. He was born to George M. Armstrong and Juanita (Ballard) Armstrong on Dec. 25, 1943. Jim was raised on the family ranch in the Cardwell area and attended school at Cardwell Elementary and Whitehall High School. He received a teaching and master's degree in vocational agriculture at Montana State University. Jim taught school for 29 years, one in Wibaux and the remainder in Manhattan. Read More	James Franklin Armstrong died suddenly Saturday doing what he enjoyed most, hunting with family. He was born to George M. Armstrong and Juanita (Ballard) Armstrong on Dec. 25, 1943. Jim was raised on the family ranch in the Cardwell area and attended school at Cardwell Elementary and Whitehall High School. He received a teaching and master's degree in vocational agriculture at Montana State University. Jim taught school for 29 years, one in Wibaux and the remainder in Manhattan. He was the Future Farmers of America adviser, organized the annual campout, and was mayor and councilman. He and wife Cookie owned the Garden Caf'e9. He was Mr. Fix-it for everyone and the family con tacted him first when prob lems arose. Summers were spent doing carpentry. He married Quoteele `` Cookie'' Reynolds Aug. 17, 1963. They had three daughters. Cookie died in May 2000. He married Mildred `` Millie'' Thompson July 8, 2001. They enjoyed hunting, shooting bows, fishing, camping, four-wheeling, golfing and just being together. He was preceded in death by his father, George M. Armstrong; first wife, Quoteele Armstrong; and brother-in-law, Jim Carmody. He is survived by his wife, Millie, of Cardwell; daughters and son-in-law, Amber Lake of Denver, Colo., April Armstrong of Butte, and Angela and Greg Giono of Townsend; grandchildren, Vaunder and Weston Lake and Lillie and Olivia Giono; mother, Juanita B. Armstrong of Cardwell; brothers and sister-in-law, George Melvin and Fay Armstrong and Forest Armstrong of Cardwell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jennie Lee and Bob McArthur, Janice Carmody of Cardwell and Gay and Dave Forsman of Brady; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Duane and Debbie Thompson of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Tim and Jamie Thompson of Windsor, Colo.; and mothers-in-law, Eileen Thompson of Cardwell and Peggy Reynolds of Whitehall. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cardwell Community Church. Interment will be at South Boulder Cemetery. Scott Funeral Home of Whitehall is in charge of arrangements.
