Frank, as he was called, grew up in Hannah, attending school there. He had hazel eyes, brown hair, and a ruddy complexion. He would have attended Sunday school and spent much time playing with his siblings. Following high school he attended University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Records indicate that in May of 1926, Frank headed to Elstow, Saskatchewan to visit, or perhaps work for, Ed Evans. Ed was married to Leila Agar, a first cousin of Frank (daughter of William). It's not surprising that Leila and Frank would have been friends, since they were members of the two branches of the Agar family that moved to North Dakota, and both branches kept a good connection with relatives in Ontario as well. The 1930 census has 27 year old Frank living with his parents. He was working as a traveling salesman, selling books door to door. His father might have had some suggestions for successful sales, since that's a job he too did as a young man. He became an advertising specialities salesman, indicating that he likely had a friendly and outgoing personality. On Valentines Day, 1942, Frank completed his draft card for the Second World War. He was 5 foot 10 inches tall, and at that point was unemployed. He gave his father's name as his next of kin, and listed his address as Los Angeles. Frank married Grace Powell of Devil's Lake in 1952 and they lived there for the rest of his life. He died in Devil's Lake in December 1987 and is buried with his wife.
