It is believed to be from the Tipton Daily Tribune.] TAPS FOR VETERAN JAMES FRANKLIN MOORE, SOLDIER, DEAD NEAR WINDFALL VETERAN WHO FOUGHT WITH McCLELLAN IS MUSTERED OUT James Franklin Moore, aged seventy years [NOTE: ACTUALLY SHOULD BE ALMOST EIGHTY YEARS], died at the home of his son, WIlliam L. Moore, one mile east of Windfall, at 5:30 o'clock this morning, his death being due to dropsical troubles and heart complications, from which he had been suffering for some time, but he had been seriously ill only about 10 days. The deceased was the third son of ten children born to Rueben and Nancy Moore, and he was a native of Kentucky, having been born at Newcastle, Henry County, that state, July 29, 1830, and he came to Indiana in 1848 and settled in Howard County, near the old town of New London, and two years later he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Mann, in Marion County, Ind., the marriage taking place on January 8, 1850. To this union five children were born, only two surviving at this time, they being Mrs. Millie Bailey of Southport and William L. Moore, at whose home he died. His first wife died in Pratt County, Mo., [NOTE: NO PRATT COUNTY EXISTS IN MISSOURI; IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE UNINCORPORATED COMMUNITY OF PRATT IN SOUTHWEST RIPLEY COUNTY] Nov. 25, 1866 and three years later he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Cow [NOTE: THE 1870 UNITED STATES FEDERAL CENSUS SHOWS "TOW" NOT "COW"], of Howard County. She died on May 23, 1907. Since that time he has made his home with his son, William, in this county. Mr. Moore was a veteran of the war between the states and followed the fortunes of McClellan in his Virginia campaign, taking part in such engagements as fell to the lot of that commander and finally drifting under the command of those who succeeded "Little Mac." He enlisted in Howard County, going out at the first call for troops and being a member of the second company organized in Howard County. T. M. Kirkpatrick was his captain and they left Indianapolis July 4, 1861. In their first enlistment they were in Company C, Twelfth regiment, but on reaching Indianapolis the company was transferred to Company E, Thirteenth regiment. They joined McClellan at the foot of Rich Mountain in Virginia. Mr. Moore was with his company during those trying days and seen much service. The deceased has been a resident of Howard County the greater portion of his life, being absent only a couple of years, during his residence in Missouri. After the death of his second wife he took up his home with his son. He was a charter member of the Masonic lodge at Kokomo and was one of the few charter members of that lodge living at this time. He united with the Missionary Baptist church in early life at Hillisborough, Ky., but when he came to Indiana in 1848 he transferred his membership to the New London church and later on had his membership at Russiaville. His membership was there at the time of his death. The funeral services will be held at the late residence Friday at 2 o'clock, Rev. Jacob Barrow, of Windfall officiating, and the interment will be at Windfall. [NOTE THE MANY ERRORS IN THIS OBITUARY AND TAKE THEM INTO ACCOUNT WHEN ASCERTAINING FACTS]
