Deceased was born in McLean county Illinois, December 6, 1834, and was in his seventy third year at the time of his death. He grew to manhood in his native state and was united in marriage May 23, 1858, to Miss Sarah A. Taylor, at Saybrook, Illinois. To them were born eleven children, five of whom, Oliver P. Elijah, Eilsha, Mary E., Effie May, wife of E. J. Goodykoontz, of Hancock county, Iowa, have preceded him in death. The widow and six children Harvey L., a prominent attorney of Boone, O.E., a successful dentist of Boone, Frank W., an attorney of Ogden, Iowa, James O., and Charles V., physicians of Denver, Colorado, and Sarah J., wife of R.A. Bovaird, of Estherville, Iowa, with a number of grandchildren, are left to mourn his death, and to whom is extended the earnest sympathy of an innumerable host of admiring friends. At the breaking out of the civil war Mr. Ganoe enlisted in the service of his country and served three years in the army with distinction and was honorably discharged. In 1890 the family came to Boone County and settled on a farm near Ogden where they resided until a couple of years ago when they removed to Ogden to make their home. The funeral services were held from the M.E. church at Ogden at 2:00 Thursday afternoon conducted by the Rev. A.E.
