Description	:	Was the son of Elizabeth Burger and Hebry William Welker James H. Welker was held as a Prisoner of War at Andersonville prison camp in November and December 1864, where he contracted scurvey and indigestion and "costiveness" from exposure and insufficient food in the prison. He also suffered a permanent disability of his left arm and left leg at the prison. Once freed (by exchange) from Andersonville, he received no hospital treatment and was sent back to Louisville as a convelescent.
