Read More	From Washington Evening Journal May 14, 1902 "James Hamilton of Marion Dead" Found Dead by the Family in HIs Bed this Morning--Was 88 years of age and born in Ireland James Hamilton Sudden Death of an Old Resident of Marion Township this Morning - Funeral Tomorrow James Hamilton, who resided five miles south of the city in Marion Township, died suddenly this morning. He was up and about the house and dooryard yesterday and apparently in his usual health. He went to bed last night as usual, but at midnight called his daughter complaning of not feeling well. She got up and went to him and soon after he said he was much better and requested the familly to retire again. This morning when the family awoke and went to him he was dead, his body still being warm. It is thought he died of apoplexy at about five o'clock. Deceased was 88 years and 12 days old and a native of Ireland. When he came to the United States he settled in New York state for about one year. He then came west and was one of the first settlers in Marion township. His wife died several years ago. Mr. Hamilton was a good neighbor and upright citizen. He was associated with the Baptist chruch. Three children and six grandchildren mourn his death. The children are Mrs. Eliza Sigafoose, J. W. Hamilton, and Miss Susan Hamilton, all of Marion Township. The funeral service will be held tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock in Pleasant Hill Church. Rev. Darbyshire will probably conduct the services.
