Description	:	James Henry "Jim" Ford, 77, of Michigan City, formerly of Florence, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, in Michigan City. He was born Sept. 19, 1932, in Vevay, the son of Henry G. and Elsie R. Gibbs Ford. He was raised in Vevay and was a 1950 graduate of Vevay High School. He received a bachelor's degree from Purdue University and a master's degree from Illinois State University. Read More	James Henry "Jim" Ford, 77, of Michigan City, formerly of Florence, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, in Michigan City. He was born Sept. 19, 1932, in Vevay, the son of Henry G. and Elsie R. Gibbs Ford. He was raised in Vevay and was a 1950 graduate of Vevay High School. He received a bachelor's degree from Purdue University and a master's degree from Illinois State University. He was in the Army from 1953 to 1955, serving during the Korean War. He received several medals for his service. He was married to Nancy Hoffman. He was later married to Cheryl Ann Seymour. He was employed in food service for the Hammond Tech Vocational School in Hammond, where he later taught and retired after 25 years of service. He moved back to Switzerland County in 1987 and lived in the Florence community. In 2008, he moved back to northern Indiana. He was a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay and the South Side Christian Church in Munster. He enjoyed being active in church, farming, gardening, cooking and taking care of his animals. He is survived by one daughter, Amy Lynn Ford-DeYoung of Highland; two step sons, Chris Hensel of Demotte and Timothy Juskiewicz of Minooka, Ill.; one step daughter, Wendy Hensel of Bradley, Ill.; two sisters, Mary Ann Ricketts of Vevay and Helen Stewart of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Lynne Ford, who died Aug. 1, 1999; his parents; and three brothers, George, Paul Vernon and Robert Ford. The funeral was at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in Vevay Cemetery. Military honors were conducted by Vevay Post 185 of the American Legion and the Vevay Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5396. Madison Courier 10/17/09
