DEATH OF JAMES IRELAND James Ireland, an old resident of this city, died at his home Sunday evening about 9 o'clock. Mr. Ireland was in the 78th year of his age, and had been in very poor health for some time. He was unconscious for two days before he passed away. Funeral services were held from the home at ten o'clock Tuesday morning. James Ireland came to Nebraska in 1859 and was married to Miss Mary Ogden in 1860. To this union one son was born- George Ireland of Pawnee City. Mr. Ireland enlisted in the 2nd Neb., Co. G, and was mustered out in '63. During this enlistment his wife died. Then he enlisted in the Mo. Inft. in '64, and was mustered out in '65. His father was also a soldier and was killed while in the service. On Nov. 25, 1866, he was married to Miss Arabella Ogden, a sister of his former wife, and to this union five children were born. Three of these children survive him, Mrs. Elizabeth Martin, Leon, Kas.; Mrs. Ella Conley, Buffalo, Okla.; Mrs. Daisy Sinkhorn, Leon, Kas. He leaves a wife, four children and seven grandchildren; also two sisters to mourn his departure. He was converted in 1860 and united with the church. During recent months services have been held at his home and he died trusting in the Saviour. His funeral was in charge of the Grand Army post, assisted by Rev. L. B. Parker and interment was in the city cemetery. NOTE: His wife and some family were in Los Angeles, CA in the 1940 census. I have been unable to find where they may be buried. Anabell was living with her daughter, Daisy Malone. George W. Ireland, wife Alice, sons Virgil & James; James W. Martin, wife Lizzie were also living near by.
