Barron, 84, of Waterloo, died at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN, Saturday, March 1, 2014. Mr. Barron was born May 7, 1929, in Waterloo, son of Guy F. and Dorothy Flater Barron. He graduated from West Waterloo High School 1947 and from UNI with a BA in accounting in 1951. He married Dorothy Lauck June 3, 1951 in Waterloo, she died 1973. He married Evelyn Kopp in 1976 and they later divorced. Mr. Barron practiced as a Certified Public Accountant for many years and joined Mercantile Bank of Northern Iowa as a CPA in the Trust Department and as a tax advisor in 1981. He retired from U.S. Bank in 1999. He also was an adjunct instructor at UNI and Upper Iowa University for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was Past President of Black Hawk County Assoc. of CPAs, a member of the Estate Planning Council of Black Hawk County, American Institute of CPAs, Waterloo Elks, and Waterloo Optimist Club. Survived by two sons, Jeffery Barron of Waterloo and Scott (Joan) Barron of Ramsey, MN; two step‑grandchildren, Adam Umscheid and Katie Umscheid; three step‑great grandchildren, Caleb, Gavin and Ava; and special friend JoAnn Weatherly. Preceded by his parents; and his wife Dorothy.
