Description	:	Irvin Davison was born May 27, 1922 to Homer and Maggie (Dunn) Davison on the family farm east of Braddyville, Iowa. He passed away at the Clarinda Regional Health Center on Monday, August 8, 2016 at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 12 days. Read More	Irvin Davison was born May 27, 1922 to Homer and Maggie (Dunn) Davison on the family farm east of Braddyville, Iowa. He passed away at the Clarinda Regional Health Center on Monday, August 8, 2016 at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 12 days. Irvin attended the Pine and Center Schools along with his family through the eighth grade. He loved the outdoors and hunting. In 1942, Irvin was drafted into the United States Army and in October 1946 he received an honorable discharge. On January 18, 1945 while he was home on leave, Staff Sgt. Irvin Davison and Virginia Stewart were married at the Methodist parsonage in Troy, Kansas and they were married 71 years at the time of his death. He was stationed at many Army bases mostly in the east and south, the last being Hawaii where he guarded Japanese prisoners. It was there that he received the telegraph telling him of the birth of his new son, James Robert. After his return he and Virginia moved to the farm east of Braddyville where they lived for 67 years and were blessed with three sons, James Robert, Donald Alan and Bill Dean. Irvin enjoyed farming and was very successful at it. He was baptized and he and Virginia joined the Braddyville Methodist Church where they raised their three sons. Irvin was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved all of his family and was happiest when they were all “home” for special occasions. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved it when the three from Minnesota and two from Braddyville came to visit in the summer. Irvin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arnold and Kenneth Davison; and a grandson, Brent Alan Davison. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Virginia of Clarinda, Iowa; his children, James Robert Davison and his wife Linda of Lakeville, Minnesota, Donald Alan Davison and his wife Melissa of New Market, Iowa, Billy Dean Davison and his wife Debbie of Waconia, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Amanda Freeman and her husband Chad of Fremont, Nebraska, Amy Martinez and her husband Marcus of Omaha, Nebraska, Sarah Smith of Phoenix, Arizona, Suzanne Ford and her husband Brian of Gilbert, Arizona, Joel Davison and his fiancé Jackie Brachio of Clermont, Florida; step grandchildren, Kenton Walston and Kayla Christiansen of Bedford, Iowa, Dana Hughes and her husband Kyle of Reeds Spring, Missouri, Jordan Walston and Jenna Walson both of New Market, Iowa; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Edna Ruth Thompson of Hopkins, Missouri; a brother, Gary Davison and his wife Phyllis of Braddyville, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Beverly Davison of Clarinda, Iowa; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Private family graveside services will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Burch Cemetery near Braddyville, Iowa with Pastor Richard Iske officiating. Visitation with the family present will take place on Thursday evening, August 11, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home in Clarinda. A memorial fund is being established in Irvin’s name. The Walker-Merrick Funeral Home of Clarinda is in charge of arrangements. SWI Memorial published the photo and the obituary. .
